Are slightly older Volvo’s, like the first gen XC90, known to have electrical issues with the windows? I’ve parked multiple Volvo’s that have all had the same issue with rolling the windows up, and then going back down, without me doing it, and then it becomes a battle between me and the windows to keep them up. So I was curious if it was a common fault.

It activates the pinch protection due to them not being calibrated. Usually happens if the battery gets low at any point. They need to be plugged into our computers to be calibrated manually one by one through each door module. Not a fault per say, just calibration :]

Fun fact: If the alarm siren goes out (common on old XC90) it causes issues with the radio and the sunroof making them both not work. Networks, yo!

BONUS fun fact. Out new XC90 is wireless. Technically, I can lower the windows on you vehicle through my computer as soon as you pull up into the service drive lol:]

Ah, makes sense. Yeah, I’ve had like four of them do it in the last 2 months so I figured it had to have been a common-ish issue.

We had a used car salesman try to demonstrate pinch protection on a older car to a customer. You are supposed to use your arm to show them how it works. the guy used his finger. No problem there except that the car did NOT have pinch protection LOLS!!!!!!

Fun fact: Most auto up/down windows have limits that can be reset very easily. They get out of wack over time and tend to do this. You’ll put the window up via auto up and once its up it will bounce back down a couple inches and stop there. It thinks that the closed location is farther up that it actually is so when the window hits the frame of the door it thinks that you are trying to chop off your hand or something.

1. Put window all the way down and HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN for 5-10 seconds.

2. Put the window all the way up and HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN for 5-10 seconds.

3. Repeat step 1.

4. Test auto up/down functions and they should work properly.

it’s pretty rad. I can do full diag sweeps, ugrades, calibrations, and software without having to plug the car in

That’s pretty freakin’ cool. Does make me wonder about it getting hacked though.
